We pride ourselves on being couples and family friendly and we offer as much as we can to make your stay an enjoyable one. With this in mind all of our guests are greeted with a cake from the world famous Betty's Cafe Tea Rooms. If you are bringing little ones we have a high chair, cot and a variety of games and books available on request.
Having ourselves been frustrated with missing necessities we supply everything you need to make your stay as easy as possible. We hope this will take any of the stress out of your stay so you can focus on enjoying the house and magnificent York!
Entrance and Hall
The house is accessed off Blake Street (you will be given an entrance fob) and you will then walk through the building and up the stairs or lift to what truly feels like a different world. As you leave the stairwell you will be greeted by magnificent views of York Minster. We are the first house on the right.
On entering you are greeted by a small entrance hall where you can hang up your coats and hats and head into the living room for the big reveal of York’s skyline.
As you walk into the main living area you are greeted by a gorgeous view of the skyline of York and a lovely, spacious and comfortable living area with double height ceilings revealing floor to ceiling windows.
There is a comfy L-shaped sofa and armchair that's beautifully positioned to enjoy the view, or in the evenings to watch TV on the 52" wall mounted TV (which has Freeview and Netflix). On the side board you will find books and games to entertain adults and children.
The living room has large sliding doors which access a small but beautiful patio with a table and chairs that are perfect for breakfast or pre-dinner drinks on a sunny day. The patio has stunning views of the Minster and York's skyline and you get to listen to the York Minster bells which are a beautiful accompaniment to a cup of coffee and breakfast (weather permitting!).
Dining area and kitchen
To the right of the living area is the dining area with a table that seats up to 4, perfect for dishing up meals or enjoying an afternoon tea.
Next to the dining table is the kitchen that we have ensured has everything you need to make proper family meals, picnics or to serve up a takeaway.
As you walk up the stares and into the large master bedroom and you are greeted by fabulous views across the York skyline that at night can be shut away with black out curtains for a cosy night's sleep. This is a mezzanine bedroom and can be set up in the following configurations:
one superking bed
two single beds
one superking bed plus one or two ottomon pull out single beds
four single beds (two single beds and two ottoman pull out beds)
Please note the single ottoman beds are ideal for children and small adults (as they are similar to a Z-bed). An additional fee of £15 per person per night is charged for these additional beds.
There is also a small airing cupboard to the right of the stairs which is a great place to store your luggage.
To the right of the bed is an ensuite bathroom where you will find a large bath with side taps, so that you can lie back and relax. There is also a rain shower, handheld shower and a large sink and toilet. You will also find plenty of storage space for your toiletries and the bathroom has hand towels, Scottish Fine Sea Kelp hand wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. In addition to hand towels we provide two high quality and fluffy towels per guest.
The downstairs toilet is just off the entrance hall. It has a toilet, sink, mirror and heated towel rail and is stocked with Scottish Fine Sea Kelp hand wash.
